SEATTLE Seattle………the jewel of the Pacific Northwest. Seattle is working hard to dispel some popular myths about the city. Take precipitation, for example. In reality, Seattle’s rain-soaked reputation is all wet: Seattle experiences less annual precipitation than Boston, Miami or Houston. Another misperception is accessibility: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport provides non-stop flights from 71 U.S. and 16 international cities and typical flight times from New York or Chicago are shorter than those to other major west coast destinations. The airport is a convenient 20-minute drive from downtown hotels. In this eminently walkable city, the scenery alone is enough to knock your socks off, with soaring Mount Rainier and sparkling Puget Sound vying for attention. In terms of its growing appeal as a unique meeting destination, Seattle’s surprisingly eclectic yet sophisticated dining scene has played a key role in its success. Seattle does not have a ton of cookie-cutter restaurants and national chains that are the most popular restaurants in the city. Most of the popular ones are local. They’re homegrown and they do a great job with seafood or Pacific Northwest cuisine. You’ll certainly not want to miss out on some excellent dining opportunities while in town. From grunge music to Microsoft to Boeing to Starbucks, this beautiful city, Seattle, is where they got their start. It’s a great destination for this year’s meeting and a great place to bring your family and experience everything that is uniquely Seattle. It has a lot to offer, both in charm and activities. And one of those activities is a visit to the Space Needle; erected in 1962 for the World’s Fair, it’s among the most iconic symbols of Americana. Take a walk to Pike Place Market, but watch out for flying fish! Visit the original Starbucks or make your own music at the EMP (Experience Music Project). And with so much water around, take in a cruise or hop on the ferry to visit the San Juan Islands. SEATTLE IS A CITY LIKE NO OTHER, ONCE YOU VISIT, IT TRULY NEVER LEAVES YOU! See you there August 10-12th!!
